If you are going to buy a car from Walter's Nissan there are some steps you must take if you want a fair deal. 1. When you are negotiating a price you are willing to pay, use the phrase "I will bring a check for this price." In my case, they agreed to $19,800. After all the fees they tacked on to the price it was $20,700. 2. If at all possible actually go through a bank and have a check to avoid having to swear on everything "this is my walk out price." If you finance through them, they will continually push you to buy their overpriced warranties and gap insurance. Here is my example. Financing the full 19,800 over 72 months. With my credit I had done my research and knew my payment would be about $325 dollars. That is $23,400 over 72 months. They told me "Your payment is going to be $401 dollars a month. "WHAT!!!!" THAT'S $28,872 over 72 months. That is nowhere close to $19,800, you see? They went on to tell me I really needed their GAP insurance and strongly recommended this car protection wax. Avoid this mess. 3. Avoid trading in your vehicle. Sell your old car outright if at all possible. My old car is worth $2,000 trade in value, they inflated the value to $4,500 in order to keep the purchase price $2,500 dollars higher on paper. What does this mean to you? $2,500 worth of taxes is another $150 dollars you pay in taxes. It adds up. After dealing with another dealership, I felt strongly inclined to write this review due to the incredible difference in experiences. All dealers are not the same. And I may add, this review is not to reflect poorly on any other Walter's lot in Pikeville. The other lot's have completely different staff members and can be most helpful in your car buying experience. I hope this is helpful.
